Afro Dizziac by T-Juice

Disclaimer: This E-liquid was provided to me free of charge for the purpose of conducting a review. This fact notwithstanding, I will, as best I'm able, provide an honest, accurate and unbiased assessment of this product. Pertinent portions of this review are quoted from my review of T-Juice's VampVape. http://vapour-taster.blogspot.com.au/2013/04/vampvape-by-t-juice.html Quoted passages are in italics.

Earlier this month (7th August 2013) I posted a review of T-Juice's http://t-juice.com/ sampler tin, "Let There Be Juice: Volume 1". http://vapour-taster.blogspot.com.au/2013/08/let-there-be-juice-volume-1-by-t-juice.html One of the six liquids included in "Let There Be Juice: Volume 1" is Afro Dizziac, the subject of this review.

Those of you with a measure of intelligence will discern that Afro Dizziac is a wordplay; a pun on the word aphrodisiac. Who amongst us doesn't know what an aphrodisiac is? For those few of you who don't know, here's the definition as given by the online Merriam-Webster dictionary http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/aphrodisiac:

APHRODISIAC

1. an agent (as a food or drug) that arouses or is held to arouse sexual desire
2. something that excites

The word itself derives from the name of the ancient Greek goddess of "love, beauty, pleasure, and procreation". http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aphrodite

Whether or not Afro Dizziac has any aphrodisiac properties remains to be seen. I'll be sure to let you know.

T-Juice are a UK company based in Northwest London. Their catalogue consists of 26 E-liquids which range from deserts and fruits to menthols and tobaccos. They appear to take the creation of their juices very seriously; sourcing all their ingredients from the EU or US, acknowledging the art and science of flavour crafting, recognising the roles of each of the senses in the apprehension of flavoured vapour and allowing for the quality assurance provided by a panel of seasoned vapers.

T-juice describe Afro Dizziac as "...an acquired taste, but this is a beautiful blend of aniseed, peppermint and secret ingredients (making) Afro Dizziac a very special vape. It produces a powerful, complex and stimulating flavour which is rumoured to have aphrodisiac qualities." http://t-juice.com/afro-dizziac.html?check18=1

The bottle included in Let There Be Juice: Volume 1 contains 5ml of liquid. When bought as an individual bottle, Afro Dizziac is available in a 10 (£5.95) or 30ml bottle (£15.95) at nicotine strengths of 0, 3, 8, 11, 16, 24 or 33mg with a PG/VG ratio of 80/20.

The 5ml bottle that T-Juice uses is a clear, easily squeezed plastic with a 1cm long needle type dropper and a red, childproof, screw top cap. The label includes the following information: the name of the juice in a theme appropriate font, the phrase "Premium UK E-Liquid", liquid content in ml, nicotine content in mg, an ingredients list, the address, website and phone number of the manufacturer, a batch number, a best used by date, storage advice, safety instructions ("Keep out of reach and sight of children") and warning symbols. The label also advises that the liquid may contain traces of nuts.

The colour of the liquid is a slightly cloudy, Straw yellow http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Straw_(colour) As I open the bottle and inhale the aroma, I smell the distinct top note of peppermint with a shadow of aniseed appearing intermittently with successive whiffs. The liquid is only mildly lubricious and is absorbed into the skin of my thumb and forefinger within thirty seconds. Interestingly, if I smell the residue of the liquid on my fingertips, I sense something reminiscent of curry powder. The consistency of the liquid approximates that of a light cooking oil or syrup.

The sample sent to me for review is 16mg nicotine strength and I'm vaping it in an Igo-L on a mechanical mod running on an 18650 battery. I don't have the means to check the ohms of the coil but there's four wraps of 0.2 Kanthal wire (32 AWG) around three strands of 2mm Silica wick, which should give you an idea of what I'm working with.

As I initially fire the device and draw the vapour into my mouth, there's a flood of sweetness along the forward edge of my tongue, which subsides almost immediately as the peppermint imposes a chemesthetic chill along the length of my tongue and then at the back of my throat. This is combined with the slight anaesthetic effect of the aniseed along the length of my tongue but concentrated, for the most part along the forward edge, which is the first part of my anatomy to apprehend the vapour. The peppermint flavour is quickly overthrown by the aniseed. All of this occurs within the first two or three seconds as I begin to vape Afro Dizziac! As I finish inhaling the vapour and take a short, shallow breath of air, the flavour of aniseed is amplified, as is the peppermint chill at the back of my throat. As I exhale, and through to the aftertaste the aniseed flavour is sustained. The anaesthetic effect of the aniseed on my tongue and the peppermint chill at the back of my throat remain for some time after the last inhalation. Further cycles of inhalation/exhalation amplify these chemesthetic reactions. T-juice mention the presence of "secret ingredients" in this liquid, but at no time am I aware of anything but the peppermint and aniseed. I suspect and trust that whatever these ingredients are, their absence from this liquid would make it a lesser vape.

Throat hit is somewhat mild for me. (This is a 16mg liquid and I'm used to vaping 18mg.) In any case the sensation of throat hit is almost lost amidst the other sensations occurring in my mouth. Vapour production is generous with substantial plumes of the stuff issuing from my mouth.

On paper (screen) the combination of peppermint and aniseed seems an unlikely pairing, but in the vaping of Afro Dizziac it works surprisingly well. It's an uncommonly busy (complex) vape and very probably not to everyone's liking, but for the more adventurous amongst you I'd recommend it highly. As Jim Carrey said in Dumb and Dumber, "I like it a lot", and I'll be returning to Afro Dizziac often in the near future. I'm curious to see how it vapes in the Killer or the Kayfun Lite.
