Ambrosia by Vape Goddess

Disclaimer: This E-liquid was provided to me free of charge for the purpose of conducting a review. This fact notwithstanding, I will, as best I'm able, provide an honest, accurate and unbiased assessment of this product.

There is a type of elusive, divine food, known the world over by various cultures; it goes by  different names and assumes a diversity of forms. In Hindu mythology it's known as Amrita, while in Chinese mythology it's known as the Peaches of Immortality. In Norse mythology it's known as IĆ°unn's Apples while in the rich tradition of Alchemy it's known as The Elixir of Life. In Greek antiquity it was known as Ambrosia. In every instance this substance was believed to confer immortality. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ambrosia

Ambrosia is freely available if you know where to look for it. Almost freely.

Ambrosia, the e-liquid is a "fruity blend of raspberry citrus creme" and is available from Vape Goddess for the trifling sum of $15.00 for a 30ml bottle. Vape Goddess don't promise you immortality, but one inhalation of the vapour from this liquid and you will feel yourself beyond the clutches of that holiest of reapers forever after. Maybe.

Vape Goddess http://www.vapegoddess.net/ is a company of women, run by Meg Strouse (co-creator of Drake's Vapes with Kevin Drake), who make e-liquids specifically for the female market. Perceiving a gap in the market, Meg with the support of her team launched a number of liquids, the likes of which you won't find anywhere else. In an industry (like most industries unfortunately) where women are often used as sex objects in marketing or are ignored outright, Vape Goddess, acknowledging that women who vape are more often than not, intelligent, creative and very accomplished, chose to reflect these latter qualities in their branding, marketing and products.

Before we go any further, a note to my male readers. Yes, these are liquids pitched to a female market, but I sincerely hope that you're sufficiently comfortable with your sexuality that you would appreciate good e-liquids when you see/smell/vape them, without worrying about emasculation, even if they're not particularly aimed at you. Vaping these juices won't diminish your masculinity in any way, shape or form. These are very good liquids and provide a number of flavours that you simply won't find anywhere else. If, like me, you're a connoisseur of flavour, you probably wouldn't hesitate in buying these juices anyway.

Vape Goddess offer a range of six e-liquids which include FIERCE ("Tangerine Menthol") ($15.00), Guilty Pleasure ("Cookies and Milk") ($15.00), Kokomo ("Kiwi Melon") ($20.00), Lotus ("Honeysuckle Green Tea") ($15.00), Luna ("blueberries with a hint of smooth tobacco")  ($15.00) and Ambrosia ($15.00). Coming soon are Ginger Fetish, Mahalo ("Hibiscus Ginger Grapefruit"), Sol ("Sparkling Mango"), Spritz ("Cucumber Mint") and Tease ("Plum White Tea"). They also offer a sampler called Goddess Tasting Flight ($25.00) which consists of 10ml bottles of each of the following liquids: Ambrosia, FIERCE, Guilty Pleasure, Lotus and Luna.

Each e-liquid is available in a cylindrical glass bottle with a black, non-childproof screw-top cap. Here follows the obligatory plea for vapers with children and/or pets around, to store and use these liquids with especial care. The labels feature hand drawn and coloured artwork by Deanna Lam that are simply gorgeous. "Her goal is to represent every Goddess as a beautiful and adored entity while maintaining that fun and flirty feel." http://www.vapegoddess.net/meet-the-vape-goddess-team/ There's a somewhat Art Nouveau quality to the artwork that lends an element of nostalgic class to the bottles. The information on the bottle in front of me includes the following: the company/brand name, the name of the liquid, a brief description of the flavour, nicotine strength in ml, an ingredients list, and the warnings: "Keep away from children and pets" and "Not for sale to minors".

The colour of the liquid is almost a Desire Red http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shades_of_red#Desire, while held up to the light is closer to Princeton Orange. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shades_of_orange#Princeton_orange It has the consistency of a light cooking oil. In terms of lubricity, it's reasonably slippery, but I found that the liquid was absorbed into the skin of my thumb and forefinger quite quickly. (I find this level of information interesting, but at the end of the day we're reviewing e-liquid and not household oil, so take it for what it's worth.) The aroma of the liquid in the bottle is primarily of some type of citrus with subtler, intermittent notes of raspberry. The fragrance is broadly sour, rather than sweet.

The reviewing hardware is the Igo-L on a mechanical mod, powered by a freshly charged 18650 battery. I don't have the mod or equipment to measure the ohms of the coil, but I can tell you that there are five wraps of 0.2 Kanthal wire around four strands of 2mm silica wick.

As I fire the device and slowly draw the vapour into my mouth, I immediately notice the velvety texture of the vapour. Sweetness registers along the forward edge of my tongue and there's the recognition of a general berry flavour which is potent and full-bodied. I also notice a trace of creme at this initial stage of the vape. When I finish inhaling vapour and draw in a small amount of fresh air, the raspberry flavour blossoms. As I begin to exhale, the raspberry flavour is amplified briefly before giving way to the creme, which carries through to the aftertaste. There seems a very subtle but omnipresent acidic note which I attribute to the citrus element in this juice. There's also a slight acidic tang during the aftertaste. Short, sharp inhalations amplify this chemesthetic effect on the tongue to produce a mild, residual, though short lived anaesthesia. I'd like to say that the citrus is some sort of Orange, but I could very well be wrong. Looking at the somewhat exotic flavours and flavour combinations that Vape Goddess offer (and are preparing to offer), it could be something entirely unexpected.

I don't experience any sort of throat hit but there is a low-key mounting of pressure at the back of the throat. Vapour production is satisfying and somewhat suggestive of a good percentage of VG in the recipe.

This is a very fine e-liquid and something that I would quite happily vape at any time of the day. Like all good e-liquids, it delivers a spectrum of flavour at different points in the inhalation/exhalation/aftertaste cycle. The raspberry and creme flavours work extremely well together and the citrus element has me intrigued. The chemesthetic effects of this liquid are a very pleasant surprise.

As I mentioned earlier, Ambrosia, that elusive food of the gods which confers immortality upon mortal beings is almost freely available if you know where to look for it. In the mean time, Ambrosia from Vape Goddess may be just what you're looking for.
